Jealous of Titus' power, she manipulates those closest to her to achieve her ends. The complexity of this character truly informs the story, right up to her admission of guilt.\nMozart composed a number of opera seria that marked milestones in his compositional development: Mitridate, Lucio Silla, Idomeneo and finally La Clemenza di Tito. La clemanza encompasses all the art Mozart developed in this noble genre.\n\nThe history of political tensions, ethics and the responsibility of a sovereign king are contemporary issues for Mozart, reflecting not only the Enlightenment, but also the philosophy of the Freemason movement. The work questions the nature of power and the threat of passions and greed to which those who govern us can be subjected.\n\nThe maturity of the work, the variety of styles and the relationship between the orchestra and the singers combine to offer us an exceptional drama. Mozart himself, extremely pleased with his work, liked to say that he had turned this story, so often exploited in opera seria, into an opera that went beyond the genre and transcended categories,
