Concert-rencontre – Massenet

ENCOUNTER-CONCERT

Massenet

ABOUT

From his beginnings at Opéra Comique to his latest post-romantic successes, Massenet has always maintained a keen sense of theater and textual prosody. Following in the footsteps of Puccini and the verismo composers, Massenet’s operas marked a new era in operatic writing on a par with the playwrights of his day and the great tragédiennes such as Sarah Bernhardt. To deepen this relationship between musical writing and theatrical intensity, David Stern inaugurates the series of masterclasses of the 6th generation of the Opera Fuoco Young Artists Program with an exploration of scenes from Massenet's operas. From Don César de Bazan to Amadis and from Le Roi de Lahore to Don Quichotte, the full range of the composer's expressions will be presented by the young vocal soloists under the guidance of two highly talented and renowned artists: Laurent Naouri, for the vocal part, and Elsa Rooke for theater and dramaturgy.

This masterclass marks a new long-term collaboration with Laurent Naouri and Elsa Rooke, both long-standing guest artists with Opera Fuoco. We are delighted to work with them as associate artists and with the 6th generation of the Opera Fuoco Young Artists Program.
