Coast to coast – Masterclass

During the Golden Age of ocean liners, a half century of glittering trans-Atlantic travel, the crossing from New York to the coast of France was a celebration of refinement and the avant-garde. Between promenades on deck, dining and dancing on these iconic floating palaces, the 5-day sail lent itself to leisurely exchanges and became the quintessential meeting place between Europe and North America. Inspired by this unique atmosphere, David Stern and his young artists will explore the musical exchanges between France and American composers of the “années folles” of the 20s and 30s. Whether reviving lost masterpieces by Jerome Kern, Maurice Yann and Cole Porter or interpreting well-loved works by Maurice Ravel or George Gershwin, Opera Fuoco embarks on a musical crossing of sorts, leaving no emotion at bay.
